Candle Care

A little candle TLC goes a long way.

Follow these simple tips to help your Moody Babe candle burn beautifully, smell amazing, and last as long as possible.

The First Burn Matters

Your candle's first burn helps set the stage for all the cozy nights to come.

The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to melt almost completely across the surface before extinguishing it. For our candles, this will typically take about 2–3 hours.

Giving your candle enough time to create a nice, even melt pool helps prevent tunneling and encourages a more even burn throughout the life of your candle.

But babe don't overdo it. Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, even if the wax hasn't completely reached the edges.

A little wax left along the sides during the first few burns is okay. It may catch up as the candle continues to burn.

Trim That Wick ✂️

Before every single burn, trim your wick to approximately ¼ inch.

A properly trimmed wick helps:

Keep your flame at a safe height

Reduce soot and smoke

Encourage a cleaner, more even burn

Help your candle last longer

If you notice a little mushroom shape forming at the top of the wick, trim it off before relighting.

Also, make sure your wax is free of wick trimmings, matches, or any other debris before lighting.

Burn It Safely

She's cute, she's cozy...but she's still an open flame.

Always:

Burn your candle within sight.

Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

Keep it away from curtains, bedding, paper, plants, décor, and anything else that can catch fire.

Keep away from drafts, fans, vents, and open windows.

Keep away from children and pets.

Never touch or move your candle while it is burning or while the wax is still hot.

Keep your hair and loose clothing away from the flame.

Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.

Stop burning your candle when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.

If the flame becomes unusually large, starts smoking heavily, or flickers continuously, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts before relighting.

And please — never use water to extinguish your candle.

When It's Time to Say Goodbye

We know. It's hard.

But when approximately ½ inch of wax remains, it's time to retire your candle. Continuing to burn a candle when there isn't enough wax remaining can cause the vessel to become excessively hot.

The good news?

Your Moody Babe jar can have a second life. ♻️

Clean + Repurpose Your Jar

Once your candle is completely finished and the vessel has fully cooled, you can clean it out and turn it into something new.

The Easy Freezer Method

  1. Make sure the candle is completely cool.

  2. Place the candle jar in the freezer for approximately one hour. The cold will cause the remaining wax to shrink and make it easier to remove.

  3. Remove the jar from the freezer and gently loosen the wax. Avoid using knives or other sharp objects that could scratch or weaken the glass.

  4. Remove the remaining wax and wick tab.

  5. Wash the vessel with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining residue.

  6. Dry completely and give your jar its new purpose.

Important: Never pour leftover wax down your sink or drain.

Give Your Jar a Second Life ♻️

Once it's nice and clean, your Moody Babe jar can become:

A makeup brush holder

A jewelry catch-all

A home for hair ties or scrunchies

A pen + pencil cup

A bathroom organizer

A holder for matches

A little desk catch-all for all the random things that somehow need a home

Basically...one less thing going in the trash and one more cute little thing around your house.
